Chelsea could redo Cole Palmer transfer trick with $68M raid on Liverpool
Chelsea is reportedly eyeing Liverpool star Harvey Elliott as the summer transfer window continues. The Blues have already made waves in the transfer market this summer with the acquisition of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.
Despite Enzo Maresca's side currently participating in the Club World Cup in the United States, they're not letting it halt their transfer window activities. Chelsea are keen to secure Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, despite having a £42million initial bid turned down.
A new development suggests that Chelsea is also interested in a Liverpool player this summer. Caught Offside reports that Elliott is on Chelsea's radar as it keeps tabs on the midfielder's future at Anfield.
Elliott has been strongly linked with a departure from the Merseyside club this summer, and now it appears that Chelsea could be a possible landing spot for the England Under-21 international.
The report suggests that Elliott would contemplate a move away from Liverpool if the chance presented itself, with Chelsea and Brighton named as potential suitors for the $68 million (£50 million)-rated playmaker. Newcastle, Aston Villa and Dortmund are also mentioned in the report as showing interest in Elliott.
Should Chelsea secure the signing of Elliott, it could echo a deal the Blues clinched two years prior. In the summer of 2023, Chelsea snapped up Cole Palmer from Manchester City in a transaction valued at $58 million (£42.5 million).
